Inside VTUMax's Approach to Fraud Detection

Security
Fraud detection in fintech has a specific failure mode that doesn't show up in the marketing copy: false positives are just as expensive as false negatives, because they lock out real customers.
Scoring, not blocking
AI Security assigns every transaction a risk score based on funding pattern, device history, and velocity, but it doesn't unilaterally block anything above a threshold by default. Merchants choose whether high-risk transactions get auto-held, flagged for review, or simply logged.
- Unusual funding source or amount for that user
- New device or location combined with high-value transfer
- Rapid, repeated failed authentication attempts
We'd rather give merchants a dial than a switch. The businesses we work with understand their own customers better than a generic risk model ever will.
